YINGXUE ZUO
Painter and illustrator Yingxue Zuo acts as a lens between his subjects and his artwork, instilling his own thoughts and feelings into his chosen portrayals. Ranging from the serenity of snowy landscapes to the vitriol of political murals, emotion acts the core for the artist’s representation. Zuo taught painting and drawing at St. Louis Community College at Forest Park until retiring in 2021.
“My art is a celebration of the fleeting beauty in nature, captured through the immediacy of plein air painting. Through sketching and playful brushwork, I strive to convey the ever-shifting emotions and feelings inspired by the interplay of color, light, and the momentary changes in the natural world. Each stroke is a direct response to the essence of the surrounding nature, creating a visual poem that resonates in my heart.” -Artist Statement
