Marina Peng is a second-generation Chinese American artist whose work focuses on the conflict, strain, joy, and symbiosis of her cultural experience. Known for her punch needle embroidery, Peng uses high contrast figures and engaging composition to portray tension, cycles, and duality.

“Marina Peng is a St. Louis-based multimedia artist working across fiber, sculpture, installation, and photography. In her practice, she examines her position as a second-generation American in the Midwest. Her work illustrates the humor and pain of the vicious cycles that are a result of her family’s immigration stories, intergenerational trauma surrounding the Chinese Cultural Revolution, and eastern vs. western cultural expectations.”-Artist Statement
