Duane Reed Gallery is proud to announce the return of its Small Works Invitational and, for the first time, an Open Call for submissions.

Our last Small Works Invitational in 2023 consisted of 120 works by over 70 artists from the St. Louis regional area, consisting of painting, drawing, photography, collage, screenprint, ceramic, fiber, metal, wood, mosaic, and more, each illustrating its maker’s response to one simple prompt: work fitting within a 16” x 16” square.

For consideration for the 2026 Small Works Invitational, please submit below or send the following materials to douglas@duanereedgallery.com:

-3-5 images of your current work

-a CV, artist statement, or any additional information pertinent to your work

-a short description or example of what you’d be placing in the show (this is not a formal proposal, just an opportunity to communicate your vision)

Please keep in mind that if selected to participate, the displayed work must be wall-mountable, measuring exactly 16” x 16” at its widest points. Artists must live in the St. Louis region (within a 100 mile radius of the city), and will be responsible for drop off and pickup from the gallery. Accepted artists can choose to include one or two works for delivery at the end of June. There is no fee to submit. Out of respect to our artists and our installation team, Duane Reed Gallery reserves the right to remove works that fail to fit the show outlines.

Submissions close March 31st at 11:59pm CST. We expect to inform applicants the first week of April.
