MILES BAIR

Miles Bair was born in New Castle, Pennsylvania. He studied art at Edinboro University and West Virginia University, and is the director of the School of Art and a professor of art at Illinois Wesleyan University. He has been a visiting artist at a number of major American universities and at the Tama Art University and Oberin University in Tokyo Japan. The deliberate and considerate placement of the thousands of dots that compose his visions provide rich contrast to the black underpainting and the ethereal, shimmering metallic leaf. Although the influence of Japanese artistic tradition is evident in his work, the Northern Wisconsin landscape informs his work most intimately. He has exhibited widely including the Mary Bell Gallery in Chicago, Quincy Art Center in Illinois, University of Wisconsin-Madison, McLean County Arts Center in Bloomington Illinois, Carole Jones Gallery in Chicago, and many more intuitions and galleries nationally as well as internationally.
