Mari Meszaros

Dance

The works of Mari Meszaros always begin with the representation of the human body, in parts and their organic relation with each other. Lyrically inclined faces, torsos, gestures of parts are formed with a subtle balance, as sculptures or reliefs made of glass. Her sculptures are built out of fragments - as parts of a possible formed whole. These shards, fractures, cracks, vestiges, and traces are created as part of the soul and emotion of her objects. They refer to history, growth, aging and wear as Meszaros adds to and takes away parts from her work. She graduated in 1977 from the Academy of Applied Arts in Budapest. Her work has been exhibited extensively in galleries and museums in Budapest, the Netherlands, Austria, Belgium, France, Luxembourg, Germany and Great Britain, as well as throughout the United States.
