Justice by Michael Janis

Justice, 2008
Inspired by Tarot Card 10
glass
37" x 19"

The large figures represent a good/evil kind of balance.
Justice is about cold, objective balance through reason or natural force.
The symbols shown include people walking, suspended in equilibrium; with one being scrutinized.
The building depicted is Chicago’s Old County courthouse - demolished in the mid-60’s,
and replaced by Mies Van Der Rohe’s landmark Dirkson Federal Building complex.
