The mixed media photography of Yasmina Alaoui and Marco Guerra is a unique collaboration of Yasmina's elaborate pen and ink patterns with Guerra's classical black and white photographic studies. Alaoui, of French and Moroccan descent, is a multimedia artist whose patterns are influenced by Koranic illustration and Islamic architecture. Chilean born Guerra, is a New York City based fashion photographer whose work is inspired by Pablo Neruda's sultry poetry. Their collaboration, enriched by two different sensibilities, combines mysterious beauty with a rich lyrical cultural heritage of modern, yet classical images.
Alaoui studied sculpture at the Beaux Arts Instituit in Paris before earning a BA in Fine Art from William and Mary in Williamsburg, VA. Guerra's work has been published in Conde Nast Traveler, Harper's Bazaar, French Vogue, The New Yorker and many other national and international publications.
