In this body of work, Eastman has returned to Cuba after nearly a decade has passed since his first body of work was photographed there. The first series documented multiple visits between 1999 - 2001 and was one of his most successful bodies of work to date. Eastman began his career as a fine-art photographer over 30 years ago. The St. Louis native has traveled throughout Europe and Cuba to shoot his architectural and landscape photographs. He has also been equally inspired by life in Missouri, where he resides.
Eastman's work is in many collections, including those of the Metropolitan Museum of Art, the International Center of Photography in New York City, The Art Institute of Chicago, and the Los Angeles County Museum of Art. Eastman has been the recipient of a National Endowment for the Arts Grant and has been published in Time, The New York Times, Life, and American Photographer.
